  • 4 Things Caregivers Can Do To Prevent Bedsores

Taking care of an aging parent or family member at home can be the right thing to do for your family, but it's also a tough job for family caregivers to do. If the patient becomes bedridden, that adds another layer of difficulty to the task. Bedridden patients are at increased risk for several problems, including bedsores. Bedsores are painful wounds on the skin that result from prolonged contact with surfaces like beds or wheelchairs.

  • When You Work A Lot, In-Home Senior Care Could Help Your Parent

Many adults will be forced to make the difficult decision of deciding the kind of care that their parent(s) should receive as they grow older. This is a difficult decision to make because many don't want to stick their loved ones in an elderly home and only see them every so often. However, it's important to carefully consider that at a certain point, your parent will need more care than you're able to provide on your own, especially when you're working full-time.

  • Don'T Be Afraid To Set These Rules With Your Home Health Aide

When you hire a home health aide to provide you with care in the comfort of your home, you'll want to develop a close relationship with the caregiver. He or she may visit you several times a week or even spend nights in your home, so it's ideal to start your relationship off on the right foot. Getting used to spending time with someone new can occasionally have its challenges, but you may find that setting some rules can be helpful.

  • The Social Benefits Of Home Health Care Professionals

When you invite a home health aide into your loved one's home, you are welcoming much more than a caregiver. In many aspects, you are also inviting in a friend. Among older adults, nearly one half of them would classify themselves as lonely. Not only can a caregiver meet many of your loved one's primary health needs, but they can also offer so many other social advantages. Keep Skills Sharp

About Me

Tips for Helping Your Favorite Senior Stay in Great Health

I have a passion for seniors. When I was growing up, my granny was my best friend. She helped me with my homework every day after school and was always ready to lend an ear when I needed someone to talk to. As I grew older and my grandmother did as well, she developed dementia. My parents, siblings, and I all took turns visiting her home to give her the extra care she needed. I learned a lot during this experience and know there are others out there with elderly relatives they are already caring for or suspect may need some extra care. I decided to create a blog to share my senior care tips with anyone and everyone who needs the advice. Come back often for new posts!
